Talking Bibles for AFRICA

People often ask, “Why do you send Bibles to the refugees? Don’t they need food more than a Bible?”

The answer to that question is simple, they need both! They need physical and spiritual nourishment. Without hope, many won’t survive the refugee camps. And without knowing the saving grace of Jesus Christ, no one survives.

Refugees are fleeing because of discrimination, persecution, or violence; they NEED God’s Word.

Refugees are often in the same camps as those with whom they are in conflict. They need God’s guidance.

At the Kule Refugee Camp, two volunteers use Talking Bibles to help resolve conflict and help create peace among the residents. These volunteers are called upon to help when there is a conflict between clans.

“The people come from different places and different clans, so there are disagreements that take place. The first time we went, there was actual fighting between two groups,” says one of the volunteers.

The next time the volunteers were called to a conflict, they decided to start the meeting by playing the Talking Bible.

“When we played it to a group, who were not Christians, they said, ‘We are in need of this. It is speaking things we need to hear!’ They even said it would be good if they carried the Talking Bible house to house to share with people.”

The results were extraordinary! The volunteer continued, “We listened to John chapter 3, and people said, ‘Why do we kill each other when God loves us?’ We also played 2 Corinthians chapter 5 and talked about reconciliation. It was a perfect time, and we left sensing God was making peace.”

The Talking Bible is speaking to the people! They now welcome foreigners and refugees from all clans. “Through our church activities and the Talking Bible, they have sparked community dialogue that has affected how they treat each other. Now, there is less tension, and people can connect.”

Only the power of the Word of God could cause such a change!
